Toolbox For Problem Dogs and About Aversives

Presented by: Terry Ryan

DVD

Terry continues to tweak her original Toolbox, first published by Howell in 1995. For the last 30 years, the Toolbox has been Legacy's basis for addressing unwanted behavior. Four foundation blocks and eight specific tools (or ingredients) are presented and then considered as possibilities to create a program (or recipe) for various problems from the audience. Using the Toolbox as a framework, the specific behaviors of inappropriate barking and inappropriate elimination will be defined and addressed.

About Aversives is based on research from Sidman, Skinner, Breland, and Bailey and her own extensive experience. Terry talks about the possible "fallout" or "baggage" that can accompany aversives. What are the critical components for aversives if they are to be applied properly and why they are seldom called for. She talks about alternatives. The use of some common and not-so common training tools and equipment will be addressed.
